What we teach is very comprehensive, covering all of the combative ranges. Due to this, classes at Denshinkan have a huge variety making them interesting and challenging. In order to also provide a level of comfort and maximise learning efficiency, classes follow a similar standardised structure;
 
 1/ Etiquette and Formalities - (Reishiki)
 2/ Warm Ups - (Junbi Undo)
 3/ Suplimentary Training - (Hojo Undo, Ukemi, Ne-Keri)
 4/ Core Skills 1 - (Nyumon, Tegumi, Kata)
 5/ Core Skills 2 - (Nyumon, Tegumi, Kata)
 6/ New Skills or Spentaneous Training - (Varies)
 7/ Cool down & Stretching - (Seri Undo)
 8/ Closing Formalities - (Resihiki)

 

Each class is structured to combine the core skills the student needs for their next assessment as well as general combat studies to enhance their knowledge of what they are doing, as well as combat as a whole. These are planned to suit the individual students needs and open to request if students feel there is a particularly area they'd like to work on.
 
While solo training is used, it's not our primary teaching tool such as you might expect from most Karate schools. Instead, we believe that working with a partner is paramount to understanding real violence and how to negotiate it. As such, about 80% of our training is done with a partner. Students are encouraged to work together as a team, gradually increasing resistance from passive to agressive as their skills and initiative increases. Students work as a team, demonstrating respect and courtesy (through traditional Japanese etiquette, known as "Reishiki") which promotes a safe and secure training environment.
 
Teachers as Denshinkan are considered part of the team and get involved at all times. Instruction is on a close, personal and detailed level, with queries and questions from students encouraged. Teachers are friendly and approachable as well as being very knowledgeable. Teachers at Denshinkan continue to train, expanding and growing their knowledge while helping you to do the same.
